In addition to getting vaccinated to keep the corona under control, hygiene and health rules must be followed.
Otherwise, you will not be able to get rid of the invisibly powerful corona virus. Therefore, to keep oneself safe from corona, people need to be more aware as well as follows the rules of proper use of masks, maintaining physical distance, washing hands and face frequently, etc.
These were the recommendations of the speakers at the training workshop on “Online Training Course on Covid-19 for Journalists community” organized by Bangladesh ManobadhikarSangbadik Forum (BMSF) through online zoom connection on Saturday.
About fifty working journalists from Dhaka and Munshiganj districts of Dhaka division took part in the training workshop held from 10 am to 1 pm.
In last three months from June to August 2021, a total of 500 journalists in 25 districts of 8 divisions of the country were given awareness training on Corona.
The main purpose of this training for journalists is to present accurate information about Corona through writing and to raise awareness among the peoples about adhering to hygiene to prevent the spread of corona. The workshop discusses in detail the symptoms of Covid-19, how the virus spreads, patient awareness, medical procedures, how to protect yourself from corona virus, myths about the virus, responsible journalism, and the need for vaccination.
The speakers said that Covid-19 or Corona is a virus that spreads rapidly from one person to many people in different ways. That’s why everyone needs to be careful not to let the virus enter their body from another person’s body. It is very important to use a mask to keep yourself safe from corona, maintain social distance and follow hygiene rules. Ifthe health rules are followed, the risk of getting corona is much less.
The Bangladesh ManobadhikarSangbadik Forum (BMSF), with technical cooperation of Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the Center for Communication Programs (CCP), Breakthrough Action and the USAID Ujjiban program, undertook a program to train 500 journalists in eightdivisional areas across the country. The course was provided by Dr. Kazi Faisal Mahmood, Chief of Party of Ujjiban Bangladesh. The project was under and overall supervision of BMSF Secretary General Khairuzzaman Kamal coordinated by Syed Sofi, Senior Journalist and BMSF Coordinator.
Among others Technical Advisor of CCP-JHU Dr.TajkeraNoor Lipi, Dr. Nusrat Sultana, Consultant UmmeKausarSumna, Deputy Chief News Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Md Shawkat Ali, Member of the Management Committee of the National Press Club& join News Editor of Daily Our Time, and Senior Journalist Ms. Shahnaz Begum Poly, BMSF Vice -President Ms. Shapla Rahmantook part in discussions during the sessions of training workshop.
Among the participants Journalists Ruhi Shamshad Ara, Swapna Chakrobarty, Mahasrupa Tobon, Syed Mahabub Morshed, nirmal barmon of Dhaka, and Mir Nasiruddin Ujjal, Mir Basir Uddin juwel, Sheikh Md Shimul of Munshiganj took part in the discussion.
It is pertinent to mention that at the beginning of Corona spreading in 2020, BMSF trained 500 journalists in 20 districts of 8 divisions of the country on the same subject through online.
